In the late 1990's, the future of home health looked bleak.  Medicare was changing, the Interim Payment System was being phased out and the Perspective Pay System was on the horizon.  For most home health care agencies, patient centered care had to take a back seat.  And, by necessity, the bottom line became all that mattered.

In 1999, spurred by frustration with the system and the determination to provide premiere home care services in a cost-effective manner, the agency's current administrator, Vicki Love, purchased the company.  Under her vision and guidance, the agency has become known for its patient centered perspective.  Patient outcomes such as improved health, well being, and independence are enhanced by SHCS field staff creating an accepting, kindhearted, and compassionate environment for each client's prescribed in-home convalescence.

Select Health Care Services staff members are proud of their agency.  In November 2003, SHCS achieved zero deficiencies on both Federal and State conducted surveys.  Further, by visiting www.medicare.gov, anyone may compare Select Health Care Services patient outcomes in specific categories with those of other regional home health care agencies.  At a glance, one recognizes that SHCS outperforms the others, underscoring the agency's mission statement, "Raising the Bar in Home Health Care."

SHCS offers home health care expertise to empower its patients to optimize their independence in the home.  Select Health Care Services has programs for adult and pediatric patients.  Services offered include Skilled Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Home Health Aides, Providers, and Medical Social Services.

Service specialties encompass diabetic education, wound care, IV therapy, rehabilitation, cancer care, post surgical care, pediatric care, case management, post stroke care, cardiac care, and pulmonary disease care.  All services are provided under physician's orders.
